Want just a hint of the kind of comedic talent that will perform on the stage of the Johnny Carson Theatre this June at the inaugural Great American Comedy Festival?
The 24 comedians selected - after auditions - to compete are Robert Mac, Rick Overton, Chris Coccia, Paul Varghese, Joe Kloucek, Jamie Lissow, James Smith, Ty Barnett, Drake Witham, Jesse Joyce, Dave Mordal, Chuck Bartell, Vince Maranto, Micah Sherman, Shane Mauss, Myq Kaplan, Dan Boulger, Jen Kirkman, Darryl Lenox, Joe DeRosa, Jim McDonald, David Gray, Erin Jackson and David Powell.
Here's a brief look at just a few of the 24:
Erin Jackson
Jackson's laid-back style has quickly made her a crowd favorite in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore metropolitan areas. She has appeared on The Bob and Tom Radio Show, and will be appearing on the upcoming season of Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham."
Jesse Joyce
Joyce has opened for Jimmy Fallon of "Saturday Night Live" fame, Tracey Morgan, Gilbert Godfried, George Lopez, Brett Butler of TV's "Grace Under Fire" and Mark Curry TV's "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper."
Rick Overton
In addition to his comedy credentials, Overton appeared in the 1992 movie "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure," in 2005 appearances of "Lost" and "Alias"on ABC as well as a guest-starring role on HBO's "Six Feet Under."
Jamie Lissow
Lissow has performed on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, on NBC's "The Last Comic Standing II," the "Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn" on CBS and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend." He was named the best new face of comedy at the Montreal Comedy Festival in 2001.
Shane Mauss
Mauss was named the best stand-up comic at the 2007 HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, has appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," was a finalist in the 2006 International Boston Comedy Festival and a finalist in the 2007 Original Las Vegas Comedy Festival.
Jen Kirkman
Kirkman has appeared on VH1's "Acceptable TV," Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," the "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," the Game Show Network's "Funny Money" show and has been a voice on a large number of animated cartoons.
