In Lincoln political circles, Josh and Jessica Moenning are well known. He's the communications director for U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry of Lincoln and she's a former executive director of the Nebraska Republican Party. But soon they'll be known much better in Norfolk, too. Sometime next month, the Moennings - and their 18-month-old daughter, Amalia - will be moving to Norfolk. He'll be staying on in his position with Fortenberry but working out of the congressman's Norfolk office.
She'll continue her work as an independent consultant in political and non-profit public affairs and public relations. "This will allow us to be closer to family," Josh Moenning said earlier this week. "Norfolk's a great community and a great place to raise children. We're looking forward to becoming more engaged with the community." His parents, Larry and Julie Moenning, live in Norfolk. Josh graduated from Battle Creek High School while his wife is an Ogallala High graduate. Jessica Moenning said she and her husband are grateful to Fortenberry for agreeing to the new working arrangement. "I don't know that there would be a lot of politicians who would recognize that this arrangement will work, who understand the importance of family and, because of that, allow us the flexibility to make this move," she said. "He's been really supportive." As communications director, Josh Moenning spends a lot of time on the phone and working on a computer. That same work will be able to be done out of Fortenberry's Norfolk office. "There probably will be some fairly frequent trips to Lincoln," he added. Josh Moenning and his father work together in a side business raising cattle and selling naturally raised beef to a few stores and individual consumers. "We're hoping to see that business grow," he said. Josh Moenning has been working for Fortenberry since he first took office in the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2005, but Jessica Moenning had directed Fortenberry's political campaign that earned him a victory in November 2004 to the open congressional seat. They've purchased an older house along Norfolk Avenue and are doing some remodeling of it. "We're looking forward to being in Norfolk," Josh Moenning said.

What is the point of this article? The people of Norfolk are brainwashed if they think the carpetbagger Fortenberry has done one thing for our area. Frequent trips to Lincoln? On whose dollar will these trips be made?
