Torch run to begin Saturday

CHADRON - The Torch Run for the 25th Cornhusker State Games will begin at the South Dakota border north of Chadron at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 30.

A group of 14 Nebraska National Guardsmen will run the first mile together in cadence.

Elliott Eliason, a stand-out basketball player from Chadron High School, and Brett Hunter, a two-time national champion wrestler from Chadron State College, will carry the torch into a local welcoming ceremony at the Chadron State College Physical Activity Center at 6 p.m.

The torch's final destination of Lincoln will be reached on Thursday, June 25. Opening ceremonies of the Cornhusker State Games are Friday, July 17.
